A state of massive confusion regarding the Grenadian Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP) took hold for about a day after Grenada's Minister of State With Responsibility for Agriculture and Lands, Fisheries and Cooperatives, Adrian Thomas, said the country's CIP was "open for everybody, whether you are Chinese, whether you are Russian, whether you are African; the first thing this administration sees is a human being."
The announcement that the door for Russian applicants was once more open made massive headlines, especially since Caribbean CIPs were issuing changes aligning them with the six principles agreed upon with the US Treasury.
However, the Minister's statement was soon dispelled as Grenada's CIU Head, Thomas Anthony, was quick to announce that the Minister's claims were mistaken, stating, "No, we are not accepting Russian applications."
Anthony's quick announcement clarified the issue, and Grenada's suspension of Russian applicants remains in effect.
